More about our Community Dinners

Early Support for Parents have developed a community program for our local rural neighbourhoods in Southern Tasmania.  Our Community Dinner pilot program events bring together different families in the same community.
We do this because:

  • Family dinners are known to improve children’s vocabulary, build resilience, self-esteem.
  • Normalising healthy parenting experiences encompasses a variety of practices and interactions that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of both parents and children.
  • There is substantial research linking family dinners and shared meals with positive outcomes for children and teens.
  • Several studies have shown associations between regular family dinners and decreased risks of various negative outcomes.
  • Other factors, such as family dynamics, communication, and overall family functioning may also play a role in promoting positive outcomes for children, teens and their families and caregivers.

Goal #1

To bring people together for
food, fun and conversation.

Goal #2

To bring together diverse families in the community through shared meals, fostering improved well-being, resilience and social connections.
